Addiction Treatment & Recovery: Conversations That Inspire Healing and Recovery
Hey everyone, it’s Lainey and Natasha. And we are with Impact Wellness Network. If you are not familiar with Impact Wellness Network, it is a treatment facility that offers help for mental health and substance use. We have seven locations across five different states. And we’re gonna start kind of talking a little bit more about, you know, who we are, what we do, and the importance of all of that, and kind of get into that. So Natasha and I have worked with primarily families of those who struggle with substance use and mental health. And that’s kind of our niche. So any of our family members out there, if you’re listening, or if you have a loved one who struggles with substance use or mental health, hopefully we can help to bring you some knowledge, education, wisdom, maybe some laughs along the way as you get to know us. But that’s really what we want to talk about. So the main thing we want to do just in this first episode is really kind of just talk about Impact Wellness Network, kind of, you know, what our design is, um kind of what that looks like and what we can offer to people. So um, yeah, I feel like I’ve talked a lot here. No, you’re doing great. You’re doing great. So I guess let’s just start off with um, you know, I’ll ask Natasha this question. What would you say is your favorite thing about Impact Wellness Network?
Oh, that’s a loaded question. It is because it you know, everyone says it’s the food. That is true. The food at all locations is phenomenal. Um for me, it’s the integrated services, it’s the treating of the mind, body, and spirit. So when the client comes in the treatment, yes, there are tons of services that are being offered to help the clients find balance mind, body, and spirit. Um, but they also have integrated services that allows families to be involved in the process. And in my 25-year career, I’ve never seen anything like it. So I’m super, you know, maybe I’m a little biased, but that’s really a favorite part for me is knowing that the families get to be a part of the process and they get to learn as well, and they get to start a healing journey as well with their loved ones.
Absolutely. Uh I think that’s probably, you know, one of my favorite parts too. Um, you know, being a family member of someone who struggles um with substance use and mental health. Families don’t often get that phone call of how are you? Um and families struggle, right? Like it’s a family disease. And so, um, again, if you’re any family member out there, um, let me just kind of give you a little bit of a rundown of you know what Impact Wellness Network does offer for families. Um Natasha, please jump in if I miss anything because one brain is not always the best. Um so the way that it typically works with um Impact Wellness Network, um, you know, your loved ones come into treatment and they go through a continuum of care. There’s different levels that are kind of involved in that. Um, and if you’re not familiar with the process, you don’t know what that is. And so upon them entering treatment, um they do go through, you know, a series of assessments. And part of that assessment is to identify, you know, their primary support, right? Whether that be mom, dad, brother, sister, wife, husband, you know, whatever your relationship is, that’s what they’re going to do. They’re going to try to identify that person. Once they identify that person, um they then they then make a referral to a family program coordinator. And that family program coordinator is really there for the family. Their entire job and passion is to reach out to the family members, um, check in with them, get to know them. The first phone call is usually a little bit of an orientation of the facility over the phone. And then you as a family member get to also go through your own assessment, um, which I have worked at, you know, quite a few different facilities. And I don’t think there’s a facility out there that takes in, you know, the consideration of a family assessment. Um so once we do that family assessment, we then like to plug our families into ongoing services to provide support. Um, so those services, you know, include a weekly group, um, which is a mix of psychoeducation and support. It includes um weekly phone calls to, you know, stay connected while your loved one is in treatment. Um, it includes opportunities to build a community with other family members. Um, and one of our biggest things that everyone always loves is our retreat that we have twice a year at each of our locations. So it’s it’s a well-rounded approach. Um, and the approach that we offer for families is is a similar approach to what you know your loved ones are getting in treatment. We want to make sure that as your loved ones go through the process, that you also are being a part of the process as well. So we want to make sure that we provide that um to you throughout that.
Well, and can I add, you know, when you said earlier about that community of support, a lot of times, and I know in my own personal experience, family members feel like they’re oftentimes alone when they’re going through this process. And when you’re when you’re impacted by your loved one’s addiction, you feel like you’re the only one that’s going through it. You don’t know who to talk to, no one really understands. Um, so that community of support is so important because when you join the online support group or you’re attending the retreat, you’re learning that there’s so many other families that are impacted by addiction and that you’re not alone. So I think that alone just um helps a great deal, knowing that you can come together with other people and know that other people understand what you’re going through and you can finally get support too.
Yeah, absolutely. And, you know, that’s why we’re creating this podcast. So right now, I know sometimes reaching out to support can be really scary. Um, you know, again, as a family member who’s gone through this, uh, Natasha has as well. She’s been a family member of this as well. Um, we know that sometimes, you know, there’s a lot of shame and stigma that’s around it. So we hope through this podcast we can give you some support and know that you’re not alone. Um and when you are ready to reach out to get that support, maybe you’re someone who struggles with substance use or mental health, or maybe you’re a family member of someone. Um, we’re gonna give you that support until you’re ready to reach out. And, you know, as long as as long as we’re still here, we’ll be that support for you. Um and we’ll definitely, you know, do what we can provide that education. So we hope that you will come back for episode two where we’ll dive a little bit more into each individual topic to give you some education and knowledge. Um, this is a nice little taste of what the family services is like. Um we want to bring this to you wherever you are at so that you can feel that community um, you know, in the presence of your car, your home, um, you know, whatever it may be. And then, like I said, once you’re ready to take that step, then, you know, we’re gonna be here waiting to offer you more than really what you could imagine. So um thanks for hanging out with us. And we will be back next time for episode two. So all right. See you next time.

Recovery is more than overcoming addiction. It’s about rebuilding lives, restoring relationships, and creating a future filled with hope. At Impact Wellness Network, we believe education, honest conversations, and shared experiences can be just as powerful as treatment itself. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the Impact Wellness Network Podcast.
Our podcast was created to provide meaningful discussions about addiction, mental health, recovery, and the challenges that individuals and families face every day. Whether you’re in recovery yourself, supporting a loved one, working in the behavioral health field, or simply looking to better understand substance use disorders, this podcast is a place where knowledge and compassion come together.
Every episode is designed to educate, encourage, and remind listeners that recovery is possible.

Why We Started This Podcast

Addiction affects millions of people every year, yet many individuals and families still struggle to find reliable information, support, and hope. Recovery is often misunderstood, and there are countless myths surrounding addiction, treatment, relapse, and mental health.
We created the Impact Wellness Network Podcast to help bridge that gap.
Through conversations with clinicians, recovery professionals, alumni, advocates, and individuals with lived experience, we’ll explore topics that matter, including:

Our goal isn’t simply to talk about recovery. It’s to provide practical information that listeners can apply in their own lives while creating a space where people feel seen, understood, and encouraged.

Recovery Doesn’t Happen Alone

One of the biggest misconceptions about addiction is that recovery is something an individual has to face on their own.
While personal commitment is essential, lasting recovery is often strengthened by the support of others.
At Impact Wellness Network, we recognize that addiction impacts entire families, not just the person struggling with substance use. Parents, spouses, children, siblings, and close friends often experience confusion, fear, frustration, and emotional exhaustion as they try to help someone they love.
Healing those relationships is an important part of the recovery process.
That’s why family involvement is woven into the philosophy behind both our treatment programs and our podcast.

Why Family Involvement Matters

Addiction changes the way families communicate, solve problems, and relate to one another. Over time, loved ones may unknowingly develop unhealthy patterns while trying to cope with the challenges addiction creates.
Recovery offers an opportunity to rebuild those relationships.
When families are educated about addiction and given the tools to communicate more effectively, everyone benefits. Family members gain a better understanding of what their loved one is experiencing, while individuals in recovery often feel more supported and connected throughout their healing journey.
Research has consistently shown that healthy family engagement can improve treatment participation, strengthen recovery outcomes, and help reduce the risk of relapse.
That’s why we believe recovery is strongest when families heal together.

How Impact Wellness Network Supports Families

Throughout our treatment programs, we encourage appropriate family involvement whenever possible. Every family’s situation is unique, but helping loved ones understand addiction and recovery can make a meaningful difference.
Family support may include:

  • Education about addiction and recovery
  • Family therapy sessions when appropriate
  • Healthy communication strategies
  • Boundary setting and relationship rebuilding
  • Understanding relapse and long-term recovery
  • Guidance for supporting a loved one without enabling harmful behaviors

Recovery isn’t just about helping one person stop using drugs or alcohol. It’s about creating healthier relationships that support long-term healing.
Many of these same conversations will also be explored on our podcast, giving families additional resources they can access wherever they are.

Honest Conversations About Recovery

One of the most powerful parts of recovery is hearing someone else’s story.
Whether it’s a clinician explaining the science behind addiction, a therapist discussing trauma, or someone sharing their personal recovery journey, every conversation has the potential to inspire hope.
Our podcast will feature a variety of guests who bring different perspectives and expertise to the table. Some episodes will focus on clinical education, while others will highlight real-life experiences that remind listeners they are not alone.
We’ll discuss difficult topics with honesty while always keeping compassion at the center of every conversation.

Supporting Every Stage of Recovery

Recovery isn’t a single event; it’s a lifelong journey.
Some listeners may be wondering whether they need treatment. Others may already be in recovery and looking for encouragement to continue moving forward. Family members may simply want to understand how they can provide meaningful support.
No matter where you are, our goal is to provide valuable information that meets you there.
We’ll cover topics that help listeners:

  • Better understand addiction and mental health
  • Learn practical coping strategies
  • Build resilience during recovery
  • Strengthen relationships
  • Navigate setbacks and challenges
  • Celebrate progress and personal growth

Every episode is an opportunity to learn something new while being reminded that healing is possible.

More Than a Treatment Provider

At Impact Wellness Network, our mission extends beyond the walls of our treatment centers.
We believe education should be accessible. Support should be ongoing. Hope should be shared.
The podcast is one more way we’re able to connect with individuals and families, answer common questions, reduce stigma, and continue supporting people throughout every stage of recovery, even if they’re not currently in treatment.
Whether you’re listening during your morning commute, while taking a walk, or from the comfort of your home, we hope these conversations provide encouragement, practical guidance, and reassurance that recovery is worth pursuing.
